Don Purcell

Don Purcell is oftern heard to say with a southern drawl, “I’m from Ridgeway Va, Population 200″. Needless to say, he is a small town boy who has grown to love the big city. After graduationg from the university of South Carolina with a degree in studio art, he lived along the coast of South Carolina in both Pawleys Island and Charleston trying to survive pursuing a passion for printmaking. Unable to make ends meet as an etcher, by chance, he met Charleston retailer Morris Kalinsky, father of Atlanta retail star Jefferey Kalinsky.

Jeffery is owner of the Jeffery stores in both Atlanta and New York. Don was hired to work in Charleston at the Senior Kalinsky’s Bob Ellis shoe store and quickly made the move to Atlanta to work at Bob Ellis location in Phipps Plaza. His creative juices found a home in luxury retail and upon opening of the Jefferey outpost in New York he moved to the big apple and served as general manager of Jeffery New York for 6 years.

A southern boy at heart, Purcell moved back to Atlanta 4 years ago to resume his previous position as general manager of Jeffery Atlanta. Don has always kept a toe in the creative ocean and is excited about the Chelko Foundations invitation to paint on a new canvas…The Human Body.
